AAA District 16 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Whitehaven extended the longest winning streak in AAA District 16 this week by beating Memphis Central, 48-0. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Melrose moved up to 229 from 269 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 32-8 win over Sheffield helped the Golden Wildcats improve their standing.
Memphis East's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Eddie Harper has thrown for 358 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Marcus Robinson has 10 catches for 194 yards. Antonio Clifton leads the league in rushing with 766 yards.
A big matchup in AAA District 16 this week will be when Whitehaven takes on Hamilton. Rodney Saulsberry's team is currently in first, while the Wildcats are in fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tigers take on Hamilton. Whitehaven has allowed 76 points this season, while Decorye Hampton's team has given up 93. The Tigers allowed 0 points last week as they bested the Warriors.
Whitehaven took down Memphis Central 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
