The Christ School Greenies are taking a road trip to take on the Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Christ School will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
On Thursday, Christ School beat St. Joseph's Catholic 9-4.
Patrick Robichaud looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jonathan Reece and Wells Alderman did most of the damage at the plate: Reece went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, while Alderman went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits Reece has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Will Ray, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Christ School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wesleyan Christian Academy). They blew past High Point Christian Academy 18-1 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Josh Hammond was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hammond was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. He has become a key player for Wesleyan Christian Academy: the team is 9-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Blake Goff was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Wesleyan Christian Academy is undefeated when Goff posts two or more runs, but 10-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Bowman, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
The victory (which was Wesleyan Christian Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Christ School, their record is now 8-14-1.
Christ School might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Wesleyan Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Greenies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
