The Boone Grove Wolves were handed a three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Wheeler Bearcats on Thursday. Boone Grove put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 70-47 win. Boone Grove pushed the score to 58-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bearcats cut but never quite recovered from.
Leading Boone Grove to victory were Corey Noonan and Jack Stevens. Noonan scored 17 points along with five steals, while Stevens scored 23 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Hunter Noonan, who scored ten points.
Wheeler lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nick Scott, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyne Vettickal, who scored 12 points.
The victory got Boone Grove back to even at 8-8. As for Wheeler, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
Boone Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bluejays at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Judson-San Pierre and the Wolves are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Wheeler, they will head out on the road to take on the Cougars at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully New Prairie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
