The Frewsburg Bears were the 70-44 winner over the Ellicottville Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Frewsburg fell just short of Ellicottville by a score of 52-49. Frewsburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Frewsburg lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Blake Weaver, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Smith, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Owen Chudy was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds for Ellicottville. That makes it three consecutive games in which Chudy has scored at least 25% of Ellicottville's points. Another player making a difference was Blake Smith, who scored 15 points.
Frewsburg now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Ellicottville, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Frewsburg is on the road again on Monday and play against Panama at 7:30 p.m. on December 18th. Panama is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.5 points per game. Ellicottville will be home for the holidays to greet Forestville Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
