Cottonwood couldn't quite beat Juan Diego Catholic on Tuesday but the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the ten-point  loss they were dealt  last Friday. The Cottonwood Colts fell just short of the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle by a score of  4-2. Cottonwood was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Juan Diego Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in March of 2021.
 Cottonwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Brighton Young, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances.
 On Juan Diego Catholic's side,  Caden Fenger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered  just two earned runs on three hits. Fenger has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Lange Livonius was  excellent,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-3.  Kayson Larson was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-3.
 Cottonwood has  not been sharp recently as the team has  lost five of their last six contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record  this season. As for Juan Diego Catholic,  the  win  got them back to even at 10-10.
 While Cottonwood had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 3:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
