The Morgan Township Cherokees entered their tilt with the South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Morgan Township put the hurt on South Bend Career Academy with a sharp 68-42 victory on Thursday. Given Morgan Township's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while South Bend Career Academy is ranked 384th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Keagen Holder, who scored 33 points along with six steals. The match was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Hayden Grieger was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Morgan Township pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for South Bend Career Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Morgan Township and Whiting will round out the year against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at. Whiting comes in still looking for their first win of the season. South Bend Career Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lakeland at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Hopefully Lakeland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday.
