The Palmview Lobos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 22 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Mission Veterans Memorial 74-41 on the road. Given Palmview's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Mission Veterans Memorial is ranked 1105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Palmview to victory were Leonardo Rivero and Joe Gonzalez. Rivero scored 18 points along with eight steals and six rebounds, while Gonzalez scored 30 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Gonzalez has scored at least 25% of Palmview's points. Another player making a difference was Adrian Ibarra, who scored 11 points.
Palmview has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they bumped their record down to 5-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Palmview will take on Roma at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Roma is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against Nixon at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Mason Vela and Diego Serrano.
