On Friday, The Walkersville Lions got themselves on the board against the Catoctin Cougars, but the Catoctin Cougars never followed suit. They breezed by the Cougars on the road to the tune of 48-0. The result was nothing new for Walkersville, who have now won four games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Walkersville was led to victory by Jordan Bennett and Da'marques Ross. Bennett rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, while Ross rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Ross was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards.
Walkersville's win bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Catoctin, their loss was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walkersville will take on Middletown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Middletown is ranked 65th, while Walkersville is ranked 57th). As for Catoctin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
