The Woodville Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Westwood Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Woodville put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 48-21 win over Crockett at home. Given Woodville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Crockett is ranked 867th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zayon Williams was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Christian Bean also helped out with an impressive 80 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Westwood can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Crockett as Westwood made off with a 48-22 victory.
Westwood found their leader in underclassman Kavian Bryant, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Lamarion Goodwyn was another key contributor, rushing for 54 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Their wins bumped Woodville to 6-3 and Westwood to 8-1.
Woodville strolled past Westwood in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a score of 19-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
