The Union County Braves lost against the Henderson County Colonels back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Union County took a serious blow against Henderson County, falling 66-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Union County has suffered against Henderson County since March 18, 2021.
Henderson County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooklyn Gibson led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Gibson grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was A'tylia Green, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Union County and nudges their season record down to 9-8. As for Henderson County, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County will face off against McLean County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully McLean County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Henderson County, they will head out on the road to take on Owensboro at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kentucky (Owensboro is ranked 34th, while Henderson County is ranked 38th).
