The Plainfield Quakers will challenge the Cascade Cadets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Plainfield 3.5, Cascade 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Plainfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Mooresville on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-5 to the Pioneers. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Quakers, who until this contest were averaging 3.52 runs allowed.
Luke Warriner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last four games.

At the plate, Gavin Lykins was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Plainfield is 3-1 when Lykins posts two or more runs, but 9-10 otherwise. Ty White was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Cascade waltzed into their match on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came out on top against Indianapolis Kings by a score of 6-1.
Noah Dasgupta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cascade secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Braxton Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Cascade's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Plainfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Plainfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cascade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Plainfield's way against Cascade in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Plainfield made off with a 13-2 win. Will the Quakers repeat their success, or do the Cadets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
