Baseball Recap: Burlington's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Burlington had lost six games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 4-10 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Union Grove Broncos 12-6. The match marked the Demons' most dominant win of the season.

Trey Kerkhoff was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Burlington: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 1-10 otherwise. Brady Weis also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Burlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Union Grove, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. Broncos fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Burlington since on Monday.

On Union Grove's side, Matthew Gruber made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Dye, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Burlington will welcome New Berlin West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Grove will be paying especially close attention to the Demons' contest: after the Demons face off against the Vikings, they'll take on Union Grove again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
