The Summers County Bobcats will face off against the St. Joseph Central Irish at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for Summers County: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while St. Joseph Central has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Summers County nor Greenbrier West made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Bobcats never let the Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 5-0 win.

Colten Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Jones was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Summers County: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-12 otherwise.
Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colton Holland, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Central hadn't done well against West Carter recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Irish put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Irish have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Summers County, St. Joseph Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Jacob Courts. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Courts has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Hudson Moosavi was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Cam Kellar was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
Summers County picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-14. As for St. Joseph Central, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Summers County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
