The South Sevier Rams gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed by Gunnison Valley at home to the tune of 66-16. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-11.
Leading South Sevier to victory were Sydnee Patterson and Kinley Jenson. Patterson scored 20 points along with 3 steals, while Jenson dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlin Nielson, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Gunnison Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as South Sevier racked up 16.
South Sevier's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Gunnison Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
South Sevier will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Panguitch at 7:00 p.m. on November 28th. Hopefully Panguitch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for Gunnison Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
