Basketball Recap: Luella Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Luella waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the North Clayton Eagles, posting a 67-37 victory. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Luella to victory were Jasmine Baxter and Angel Thomas. Baxter dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Thomas went 7 for 13 en route to 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Baxter is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. London Thurman also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

Luella was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Clayton only posted six assists.

North Clayton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kailee Wooten, who posted eight points along with nine boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiera Oglesby, who had eight points and seven rebounds.

Luella pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for North Clayton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Luella didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 88-17 victory against Riverdale on the 18th. North Clayton has also already played their next contest, a 56-40 loss against Stephenson on the 24th.
