In what's become a running theme this season, the Moapa Valley Pirates gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 68-41 win over Mater Academy East Las Vegas. Winning may never get old, but Moapa Valley sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Moapa Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Claire Cox, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Cox hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Haylie Western, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.
Moapa Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Moapa Valley will head out on the road to square off against Cristo Rey St. Viator at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they will be playing at home against Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Chaparral comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
