If the Somerset Bulldogs were feeling good off their 48-21 takedown of the John F. Kennedy Rockets on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Somerset lost to Southwest on the road by a decisive 37-20 margin on Tuesday. Somerset was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Southwest apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Southwest's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephanie Gonzalez, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Lillian Covarrubias was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Somerset's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Southwest, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Somerset will be home for the holidays to greet Floresville at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Floresville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Southwest will be home for the holidays to greet Harlandale at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Harlandale is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
