The Phillips Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight loss. The New Year welcomed they with a 73-38 whooping from Brilliant. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Phillips in their matchups with Brilliant: they've now lost eight in a row.
Brilliant's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Omary, who scored 20 points along with nine steals. Omary continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hadlee Sanderson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Phillips' loss was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-14. As for Brilliant, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phillips will square off against Haleyville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brilliant, they will head out on the road to face off against Berry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
