Lehi extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Herriman. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Mustangs. Considering the Pioneers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lehi got a great performance from Sean Mcafee as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, Mcafee posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mays Madsen, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Lehi is undefeated when Madsen posts three or more hits, but 12-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Yates, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Lehi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herriman only posted a batting average of .174.
Lehi has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Herriman, their record is now 15-15.
Coming up, Lehi will face off against Davis at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Darts will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight. Herriman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
