Williamsburg is 8-2 against Clermont Northeastern since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will head out to take on the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. Williamsburg is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Clermont Northeastern's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Williamsburg hadn't allowed a single run the last five times they've hit the field. The Wildcats came out on top against Georgetown by a score of 5-0 on Thursday. Those five runs were actually the fewest the Wildcats have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Williamsburg's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaityln Pollitt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clermont Northeastern). They put the hurt on Georgetown with a sharp 16-3 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the G-Men: they've now won six in a row.
Jenna Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addisyn Baker, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Karlee Gamble, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Clermont Northeastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Georgetown only managed six hits.
Williamsburg pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Clermont Northeastern, their record now sits at 5-3.
Everything went Williamsburg's way against Clermont Northeastern in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Williamsburg made off with a 7-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
