The Central Noble Cougars will head out to take on the Churubusco Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Central Noble 3.8, Churubusco 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Central Noble managed to slip by Homestead the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cougars came up short against the Spartans on Thursday, falling 18-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this contest were averaging 3.76 runs allowed.
Meanwhile, Churubusco waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the Jets with a sharp 10-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Churubusco let JayLynn Rosswurm and Jayda Oler run wild. Rosswurm went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles, while Oler went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two doubles gave Rosswurm a new career-high. Emma Lemish was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Churubusco hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least one batters in four consecutive contests.
Central Noble's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Churubusco, their record now sits at 22-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Central Noble has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 14.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Churubusco struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Central Noble beat Churubusco 7-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
