The Laurel Spartans lost against the Bowie Bulldogs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Laurel was outmatched by Bowie on the road and fell 75-40. Laurel has struggled against Bowie recently, as their contest on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Bowie found their leader in underclassman Autumn Welch, who scored 19 points along with three blocks and two steals. It was the first time this season that Welch scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amira Kittles, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five steals.
Laurel's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Bowie, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Laurel will take on Flowers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Flowers presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Laurel in Maryland (Flowers is ranked 29th, while Laurel is ranked 193rd). As for Bowie, they will head out on the road to square off against Parkdale at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Parkdale is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
