Baseball Recap: Van Alstyne Has No Trouble Against Bonham

Van Alstyne lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bonham, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Van Alstyne Panthers blew past the Bonham Warriors 12-4 on Wednesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Landon Newkirk was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Riley Hunter was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Van Alstyne is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Bonham is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Van Alstyne will face off against Pleasant Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bonham, they will challenge Gainesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
