Johnson is 0-4 against Austin since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Johnson Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Austin Maroons at 7:00 p.m. Johnson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Johnson posted their biggest victory since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Anderson 65-36 at home. Given Johnson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 481st, while Anderson is ranked 1155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Austin unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-39 walloping at the hands of Bowie. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Austin has suffered against Bowie since January 3, 2020.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jill Shirk, who scored six points along with five steals. Evelyn Young was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Johnson's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-13. As for Austin, their loss dropped their record down to 13-18.
