V Section II recap Nov. 7, 2012
Yuma Catholic extended the longest winning streak in V Section II this week by beating Willcox, 47-8. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Shamrocks.
Scottsdale Christian Academy took down Pinon 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Luke O'Neill threw for 98 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Alfred Erives was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 285 yards on 34 carries as Arizona Lutheran Academy defeated Red Rock. Kaleb Buchholz also contributed to the rushing game with 101 yards on the ground.
Osborne was the best wideout in the league this week as the Crusaders defeated the Scorpions. Osborne tallied two receptions for 68 yards. Matt Delos helped Northwest Christian's passing attack out by catching two balls for 58 yards.
Hayden Harden made the biggest impact on defense this week as Tempe Prep topped Round Valley. The 5-foot-10 junior grabbed one sack.
On the ground, the Coyotes' Erives has rushed for 2213 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Erives. The Arizona Lutheran Academy star has 34 catches for 786 yards.
Going into this week's game against Morenci, Arizona Lutheran Academy's Tyler Koehler needs 171 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Koehler has thrown for 1829 yards with 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Eagles take on Yuma Catholic. At the moment, Scottsdale Christian Academy is in third, while Rhett Stallworth's team is in first.
Northwest Christian led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Red Rock. Kyle Shipp threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 19 yards in the win.
