The East Rutherford Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. East Rutherford will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Friday, East Rutherford didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Stuart W. Cramer, but they still walked away with a 54-49 victory. Given East Rutherford's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Stuart W. Cramer is ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jada Whitesides was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with 3 steals. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taniyah Cash, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bessemer City's 21-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They suffered a rough 77-55 loss at the hands of Forestview on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
East Rutherford's victory bumped their season record to 4-0 while Stuart W. Cramer's loss dropped theirs to 2-4.
East Rutherford was able to grind out a solid win over Bessemer City in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, winning 33-24. Will East Rutherford repeat their success, or does Bessemer City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
