The Le Grand Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Mariposa County Grizzlies at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Mariposa County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Le Grand, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Le Grand was able to grind out a solid victory over Delhi, taking the game 28-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Le Grand.
Le Grand's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diego Martinez, who threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also punched in a rushing score. Alexis Granados and his 91 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Le Grand's victory.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Mariposa County, who are still winless after their ninth game. They took a 35-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waterford on Friday.
Taxtyn Weiland put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Le Grand has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Mariposa County, their loss was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Le Grand against Mariposa County in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 47-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Le Grand since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
