The Perry-Lecompton Kaws were the 49-6 winner over the Wellsville Eagles when they last played one another back in September of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Perry-Lecompton took a serious blow against Wellsville on Friday, falling 48-6. Perry-Lecompton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.
Garrett Metcalfe threw for 71 yards and a touchdown. Eli Dean was his top target, picking up 50 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Among those leading the charge was William Dorsey, who threw for 286 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Payton Otwell also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Perry-Lecompton's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Atchison and 9-0 Hayden (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.3% over those games). As for Wellsville, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Perry-Lecompton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wellsville will square off against Holton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
