The Rangeview Raiders lost against the Vista PEAK Prep Bison back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Rangeview fell 47-40 to Vista PEAK Prep. While losing is never fun, Rangeview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Vista PEAK Prep is ranked 14th).
When it comes to explaining why Rangeview lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kenny Black-Knox. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Black-Knox has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Allen Ervin, who scored seven points.
Vista PEAK Prep was led to victory by Kyree Polk and Alante Monroe-Elazier. Polk scored five points along with nine rebounds and three blocks, while Monroe-Elazier scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Polk hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Julian Carrizales, who scored five points along with two steals.
Rangeview has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Vista PEAK Prep, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Rangeview will take on Hinkley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against Denver South at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Denver South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
