It was a good run, but the Rowan County Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 61-51 to Fleming County. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rowan County in their matchups with Fleming County: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Weston Maxey, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Maxey pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Wilburn, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Rowan County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Fleming County, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rowan County and Menifee County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Menifee County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Rowan County is ranked 48th). As for Fleming County, they will head out on the road to face off against Bath County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
