Liberty Tree Academy found their leader in sophomore Wesley Rains, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rains has scored all season. Kaleb Mendez was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals.
Liberty Tree Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Pikes Peak Christian humbled Monument Academy with a 64-28 victory. With the Eagles ahead 43-11 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Pikes Peak Christian had a senior duo take command as Eddie Harmon made all 6 shots he took for 12 points and Max Singler on his way to 11 points and three steals. Harmon also brought in his first shooting accuracy of the season. Another player making a difference was Austin Baker, who posted ten points and four steals.
Pikes Peak Christian pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points over those games. As for Liberty Tree Academy, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Liberty Tree Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30 boards per game. However, it's not like Pikes Peak Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
