Having just played yesterday, the McNair Academic Cougars will get right back to it and host the American History Bald Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
McNair Academic unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Ferris 43-37.
Meanwhile, American History was the victim of a rough 70-46 defeat at the hands of the Redwings on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, American History can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Redwings are ranked 103rd).
Despite their defeat, American History saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ihjamir Williams, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Williams hasn't dropped below four blocks for five straight games. Edgar De Los Santos was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
McNair Academic's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for American History, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
McNair Academic came up short against the Bald Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2018, falling 64-51. Thankfully for McNair Academic, Emmanuel Bell (who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
