Washington has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Cambridge-South Dorchester Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Washington came up short against Kent County and fell 24-14.
Although Washington took the loss, they still got scores from Braden Corbin and Develle Morgan jr.
Meanwhile, Cambridge-South Dorchester had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 52-6 victory over Snow Hill on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-6.
Washington's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-6. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-6 Kent County and 3-4 Colonel Richardson (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.9% over those games). Cambridge-South Dorchester is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Washington was dealt a bruising 2-0 loss at the hands of Cambridge-South Dorchester in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Washington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
