Softball Recap: Northwood Has No Trouble Against Mansfield

Northwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mansfield, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Northwood Gators blew past the Mansfield Wolverines 18-3 on Monday. Considering the Gators have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Alaya Cornett, who scored three runs and stole Eight bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten matches. Another player making a difference was Micheala Bolden, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Northwood now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Mansfield, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwood will head out to square off against Lakeview at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mansfield, they will venture away from home to face off against Red River at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Red River has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.1 runs per game on average), something Mansfield will no doubt try to take advantage of.
