They were outmatched by Math & Science College Preparatory at home and fell 67-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New West Charter has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why New West Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Liam Hakimi. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points. That was a full 40.6% of New West Charter's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Garcia, who scored seven points.
New West Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Math & Science College Preparatory, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New West Charter will challenge Animo South Los Angeles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Math & Science College Preparatory, they will head out on the road to challenge Horace Mann UCLA Community at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Horace Mann UCLA Community is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
