The Doniphan Dons will venture away from home to square off against the Senath-Hornersville Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Doniphan will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Doniphan's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Ellington 10-0. The Dons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.
Doniphan got a massive performance out of MaKenzie Taylor, who fired off three triples, two runs, and one RBI while going 3-for-4. Those triples marked the first that Taylor hit this season. Another player making a difference was Dalila Watson, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Senath-Hornersville not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Scott City. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Kylie Walker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Walker was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Senath-Hornersville let Mily Reyna and Lacey Lane run wild. Reyna went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Lane scored a run while going 2-for-3. Halle Jamerson was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Senath-Hornersville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scott City only posted a batting average of .118.
Doniphan pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Senath-Hornersville, their record is now 4-6.
Doniphan took their victory against Senath-Hornersville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
