4A Region 8 recap Oct. 31, 2012
Timpview extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 8 this week by beating Logan, 49-14. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Thunderbirds.
Orem was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Tigers triumphed over Sky View 41-31.
Taylor Camp and James Wadsworth gave Orem a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Camp threw for 259 yards and one touchdown, while Wadsworth ran for 81 yards. Quin Ringer also contributed to the rushing game with 17 yards on the ground.
Channing Merrill was the best wideout in the league this week as Maple Mountain fell to Box Elder. Merrill racked up 10 receptions for 115 yards. Kj Hall helped Maple Mountain's passing attack out by catching five balls for 43 yards.
Tyler Anderson's team's Camp and Nolan Gray have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region 8 in both passing and receiving yards. Camp has thrown for 3138 yards this season, while Gray has 73 catches for 1330 yards. Hall from the Golden Eagles leads the league in rushing with 1053 yards.
Mountain View made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,674 from 4,856. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 49-0 victory over the Bruins last week.
