The Auburn Mountainview Lions pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-57 to Beamer. While losing is never fun, Auburn Mountainview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Beamer is ranked 36th).
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sebastian Arius, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Bowden, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Beamer's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrence Whiting, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. Whiting hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Tellis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Auburn Mountainview and nudges their season record down to 7-5. As for Beamer, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn Mountainview on the road again on Saturday and play against Auburn at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Auburn has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 261 points over their last three contests. As for Beamer, they will head out on the road to challenge Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
