The McLean County Cougars made easy work of the Brookville Blue Devils on Tuesday and carried off a 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Layden Bozarth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for McLean County: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise. Bozarth was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, McLean County got a massive performance out of Connor Mitchuson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The Cougars are undefeated when Mitchuson posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Ayden Rice also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

McLean County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

McLean County now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Brookville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, McLean County will challenge Male at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brookville, they will take on Spencer County at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
