Softball Recap: Spencer County Wins Going Away Against Frankfort

While Spencer County put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Frankfort. The Bears put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 14-0 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Annalee Wood looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brooklyn Hunt and Kaylen Newton did most of the damage at the plate: Hunt went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Newton went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Hunt has posted since back in May of 2024. Joslyn Waldridge was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Spencer County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frankfort only posted an OBP of .150.

Spencer County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11. As for Frankfort, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Spencer County will be playing at home against Whitefield Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Frankfort, they will challenge Garrard County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
