Cottonwood hadn't done well against East recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Everything went the Cottonwood Colts' way against the East Leopards as the Cottonwood Colts made off with a 57-31 win. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Among those leading the charge was Carley Caton, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Workman, who earned ten points.

Despite the defeat, East had strong showings from Nora Amidbakarr, who had six points along with 12 boards and four steals, and Jaylah Dulin, who put up 15 points. That was a full 48.4% of East's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Cottonwood's record now sits at 9-2. As for East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Cottonwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-43 victory against Juan Diego Catholic on the 28th. As for East, they will venture away from home to take on Fremont at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Fremont will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something East surely won't give up without a fight.
