Basketball Recap: Anderson Piles Up the Points Against Richards School for Young Women Leaders

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Anderson's strategy against Richards School for Young Women Leaders on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Anderson Trojans blew Richards School for Young Women Leaders out of the water with a 65-26 final score. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 536th, while Richards School for Young Women Leaders are ranked 1341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Anderson was led to victory by Brooke Fuller and Lucy Swanson. Fuller went 9 of 18 on her way to 26 points, while Swanson posted 17 points and four steals. That's the most points Fuller has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayla Mosby, who put up two points in addition to 12 rebounds and four steals.

Anderson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Anderson has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Richards School for Young Women Leaders, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Anderson will take on Bastrop at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Richards School for Young Women Leaders, they will square off against McCallum at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
