The Kentridge Chargers will take on the Interlake Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Kentridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Kentridge's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Tahoma hitters got past them. The Chargers lost 16-1 to the Bears on Wednesday. It was the first time this season that the Chargers let down their fans at home.
Kentridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Naomi Benavides, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Interlake made easy work of Foster on Friday and carried off a 14-7 win. Considering the Saints have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lizzy Thompsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Interlake let Tali Estolano and Madeline Knight run wild. Estolano went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Knight went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Vedika Jagtap, who earned one RBI and two runs.
Interlake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foster struck out 13 times.
Interlake is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Kentridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kentridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Interlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
