Greenway had lost five games straight , but after bumping their record up to 9-11 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Peoria Panthers as they made off with a 16-5 victory. The Demons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.
Caden Lord was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Greenway's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Lord was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Greenway got a massive performance out of Trevor Myer, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Myer has become a key player for the Demons: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Tyler McNally was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Greenway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria only posted an OBP of .429.
As for Peoria, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered against Greenway since February 26, 2018.
On Peoria's side, Dominick Ramirez put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Ramirez was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Jesus Aguirre made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Daniel Taegel, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Greenway wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Dysart on the 28th. Peoria does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
