The Fayette Academy Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Natchez Trace Youth Academy 85-22 at home. That looming 85-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Fayette Academy yet this season.
Fayette Academy was led to victory by Zane Pike and Landon Abernathy. Pike scored 12 points along with eight rebounds, while Abernathy scored 14 points. That's the first time this season that Pike pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kahne Dozier, who scored five points along with three steals.
Fayette Academy pushed their record up to 7-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.33 points. As for Natchez Trace Youth Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fayette Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sacred Heart of Jesus at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Sacred Heart of Jesus knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Fayette Academy likes a good challenge. Natchez Trace Youth Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Tipton-Rosemark Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th. Tipton-Rosemark Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
