The North Brunswick Scorpions will head out on the road to square off against the Dixon Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, North Brunswick beat West Bladen 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Scorpions.
Shanley Hunt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, North Brunswick's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Morgan, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Emilee Camacho, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
North Brunswick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Bladen only posted an OBP of .259.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Dixon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Southwest Onslow on Friday. Everything went Dixon's way against Southwest Onslow as Dixon made off with an 11-0 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Stallions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Casey Linkogle and Kailei Dawsey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Linkogle tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dawsey didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Linkogle scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Dawsey scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Dawsey has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Alivia Nokes was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Woods, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Dixon's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for North Brunswick, their record now sits at 2-0.
North Brunswick skirted past Dixon 10-8 in their previous meeting on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Brunswick since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
