The McGuffey Highlanders will be playing at home against the West Greene Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. West Greene took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McGuffey, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, McGuffey was fully in charge, breezing past Carmichaels 60-17 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for McGuffey.
Meanwhile, West Greene's game on Thursday was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Frazier 36-30.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Parker Burns, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Darren Knight, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
McGuffey's win bumped their season record to 2-0 while Carmichaels' defeat dropped theirs to 1-2.
McGuffey was able to grind out a solid victory over West Greene in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 64-55. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was West Greene's Kaden Shields, who scored 20 points. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for McGuffey to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
