Knox is 7-1 against Glenn since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Redskins will venture away from home to square off against the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. Knox's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Tuesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Saturday, Knox came up short against North Newton and fell 6-2.
Knox saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheryl Barnes, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Alyssa Manns also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Glenn faced off against Elkhart Christian Academy on Monday. The Falcons beat the Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Lexie Baugher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.
On the hitting side, Glenn let Makinzie Kline and Sophia Lizzi run wild. Kline got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Lizzi went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Lizzi continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Laskowski, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Glenn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Glenn now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Knox, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Knox hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Glenn struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Knox beat Glenn 5-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Redskins repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
