Texico hasn't had much luck against Eunice recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. Texico is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Texico had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Santa Rosa put an end to it on Thursday. The Wolverines fell 7-2 to the Lions.
Hunter Bowman was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Alex Fuentes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Eunice entered their tilt with Jal on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Eunice also got a great performance from Haziel Goitia as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Goitia a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
On the hitting side, Tyson Coy was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jose Calvillo, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Eunice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jal only posted an OBP of .304.
Eunice's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Texico, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Texico has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Eunice struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Texico suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Eunice in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Will the Wolverines have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
