Hamilton is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Valley Vista Monsoon at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Hamilton's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
Hamilton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked tenth at the time (Hamilton was ranked third). The Huskies breezed past the Coyotes to the tune of 50-10 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Coyotes: they've now won six in a row.

Hamilton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Skyler Cole led the charge by rushing for 180 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while also picking up 41 receiving yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Cole is now averaging an impressive 101.8 rushing yards per game. Roye Oliver III was another key pass catcher, picking up 187 receiving yards and four TDs.
Meanwhile, Valley Vista suffered their closest defeat since October 18, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Mountain Ridge by a score of 41-39. Despite 79 more yards than the Mountain Lions, the Monsoon couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Hamilton will have to keep a close watch on Arie Callwood and Damir Ilicic, a pair of players who had a big impact on Valley Vista's prior game. Callwood picked up 215 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while Ilicic threw for 462 yards and five TDs while completing 73.7% of his passes. Ilicic has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Joseph Watts-Diver, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Valley Vista and nudges their season record down to 1-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points over those games. As for Hamilton, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Jax Sculley and Ilicic. Sculley just won't slow down this season and has thrown 24 touchdowns (and and only 4 pick) while averaging 320 passing yards per game. Ilicic has been a dominant force too and has thrown 13 touchdowns while averaging 289.6 passing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Hamilton against Valley Vista when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 58-0 victory. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Monsoon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
